Quickie: Song of the Week!

This band have had a special place in my heart for about 5 years now, in fact I used to idolize their front man (just a bit) around a year ago. The band itself was formed in 1995 by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, although I say 'formed' - for a while it was just himself. In fact, he wrote and recorded the whole first album (self titled Foo Fighters); playing all of the instruments (except for guitars on the track "X-Static") and providing all of the vocals.

Dave managed to get a few people in so that they could tour; Nate Mendel (Bass), William Goldsmith (drums) and Pat Smear (Guitar) made up the original band. However, some 12 years on now and the band now consist of only Dave and Nate from the original line up with the replacements of Taylor Hawkins (drums) and Chris Shiflett (Guitar)

Picking a song is difficult, part in due to the mere number of songs they've churned out over the years, but more so due to the amount of quality songs they churned out over the years. However, there's something about this tune that always stops me 'song-hoping' - I love the lyrics, the simplicity of them, the beat is amazing and the vocals: awesome. From their 2nd album The Colour and the Shape

May I present to you...

My Hero
Too alarming now to talk about
Take your pictures down and shake it out
Truth or consequence, say it aloud
Use that evidence, race it around

There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
Hes ordinary

Dont the best of them bleed it out
While the rest of them peter out
Truth or consequence, say it aloud
Use that evidence, race it around

There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
Hes ordinary

Kudos my hero leaving all the best
You know my hero, the one thats on

There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
Hes ordinary
